Miss Torbay 2008 - supported by the Herald Express

Congratulations to the new Miss Torbay 2008 (Katie Heaselden) and her Lady in Waiting (Ellen Searle) who were crowned at the exciting final at the Imperial Hotel, Torquay.

Thank you to all the contestants, their supporters, the judges and sponsors who made it a very special night.

We wish them all the best with their new roles and hope you will support their many upcoming appearances in over 35 carnivals and at 250 appointments including Carnival Week, It's a Knockout and keep a listen out for them on the radio, in the papers and at an event near you.

See Katie and Ellen on the Torbay Carnival "Centenary Celebrations" float at a Carnival near you or in our procession on Wednesday 30th July leaving from and returning to Paignton Green.

If you would like to invite Miss Torbay to your charity event, please call the Carnival mobile - 077 0909 2250.

Missed it this year - why not enter next year?

We are looking for local over 16s who love Torbay and are enthusiastic about promoting this great place we live in.

- As Miss Torbay or her Lady-in-waiting, you will represent Torbay on the Carnival float during the Summer and Winter Carnivals, open the Summer Carnival in July and help with the various events. There will be opportunities to chat to the press, meet the mayor and you must love having your picture taken!

- This is not a glamour contest, we are looking for friendly and bubbly girls who can talk confidently in front of groups of people and are able to make many engagements this upcoming year, during the day and evening.

In exchange, you get to meet lots of new people. It's hard work but also a lot of fun.
