Voluntary position within Carnival Committee

Would you like to be more involved with Carnival?
To be a critical member of the Carnival Committee?
To be part of a successful event which entertains thousands and raises money for local charities and organisations?

The Carnival Committee is looking for a new Secretary.

This is a voluntary role but work will usually be undertaken outside of normal working hours, aside from Carnival Week itself.

It is an essential role, as part of the team which organises the 9 day charity event, and will include (but is not exclusive to) minute taking, dealing with all written and electronic correspondence, blogging, website design and changes, facebook/twitter, writing of contracts, event and sponsor communications, designing of promotional items, event applications, press releases and articles as needed.

It's an exciting role, working with a lovely dedicated and enthusiastic voluntary committee.  There could be an opportunity for the job to be shared -  if this works for everyone.

If you are interested, a job description is available from torbay.carnival@gmail.com

Thank you for your support.

Mike Bailey - Torbay Carnival Chairman.

Close of Carnival 2011

Well Carnival finished at 5pm on Sunday and what a day it was.  With hundreds enjoying the Strongman Competition on North Green and dance, judo, majorettes, zumba and Mr Phil in the main arena - it was non-stop.  The highlights had to be Miss Torbay's mixed dance display and the 'real' Wheelbarrow Competition where adults and children raced each other around a tricky course, often tipping their partner out, which delighted us in the audience!

The fair, bar and craft marquee were also busy and the weather was with us until the very end.
Following the Grand Draw, Miss Torbay, the Ladies in Waiting and Chairman closed the Carnival for another year thanking all our sponsors (especially Anderton & Rowlands and Babbacombe Inn), our fantastic entertainers, traders and everyone that enjoyed the fun and made a donation.

Keep an eye on the site for news of our Donation Ceremony later this year - when we will enjoy seeing how the donations raised during the event can help local charities and organisations.

Thank you for your support and hope to see you in 2012!
